War is no adequate metaphor for COVID-19

I've seen many people use the metaphor for war for #COVID19. I don't think it is an adequate metaphor. There are different arguments against the use of war as a metaphor for COVID - these three are particularly good:

ARUNDHATI ROY: "The mandarins who are managing this pandemic are fond of speaking of war. They don’t even use war as a metaphor, they use it literally. But if it really were a war, then who would be better prepared than the US? If it were not masks and gloves that its frontline soldiers needed, but guns, smart bombs, bunker busters, submarines, fighter jets and nuclear bombs, would there be a shortage?"

CYNTHIA ELOE: “Waging a war” is the most deceptively alluring analogy for mobilizing private and public resources to meet a present danger. We should, however, resist that allure".

LAUREN SERINO: "I’m getting frustrated with the war metaphors: disease as battle, references to docs as warriors, health care workers as the front lines. You know whom they put on the front lines? Infantry. And what is the infantry? Bodies for slaughter."
